Patricia Biesen paints to better understand the challenges she faced as a child and how those challenges have changed with age. Each piece is a personal narrative: a story about a precocious adolescent and the woman that she has become. Her paintings rebutt the harsh suffering she endured as a child and help us to see the strength necessary to move beyond those years, as well as challenging us to think about ideas of what is natural and abnormal. |
