I am a partially self-taught mixed media collage artist and co-owner of an online original art sales & retail mixed media collage art supply store. We call ourselves the Divas D'Este www.divasdeste.com Together, my mom and I have combined our interests, talents, mutual respect, and love for each other to create a special place for other creative spirits to visit, shop and communicate. My grandmother is the original D'Este and although she had always been very artistic, she did not really begin to paint until she had a major debilitating stroke when I was 12 years old. The paintings she left to us are our cherished memories from the talent of this very special woman, who would be so proud and happy that her daughter and granddaughter are keeping the feminine artistic spirit alive through their creative efforts. She was a wonderful role model: kind, giving, wise, talented, and above all loving. While in Collage I started as a dance major, (was told I couldn't make enough money dancing on broadway to sustain myself for the rest of my life-by my father) took several art courses (same response from my father) and, ultimately, became an attorney. (how far we can fall from our true desires if so pressed... ;) When my father became ill (dementia/alzheimers) I started spending a lot more time with him and a lot less time arguing (atty stuff) that is when I began to return to what drives my soul.... ART!
