Rina Quilala Ayuyang is a recent graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelors in Art and an emphasis in Conceptual and Information Arts. Above all else, she strongly associates herself with the school of painting. Brief stints in the arenas of film and photography have influenced her painting style which incorporates visual techniques such as mis-en-scene, framing, and light and shadow. Most of her work documents the ironies and eccentricities of the everday through satirical narratives. (At least, that 's what she thinks it does.) However, it is her life in the blue-collar town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that has been a huge source of inspiration in the themes of her work as well as her newfound realization of her Filipino and family history. |

Title: LiveForLove
Description: I meant it to be a satire on the theme of love and marriage. The words "live for love" are put into a context that suggests (with the aid of the blood-drenched human heart) the laborious struggle and obsessions of trying to discover true love. Furthermore, I explored the notion of the human heart as this scientific, logical, and structural organ that determines our being and at the same time serves as an icon for the concept of love, emotion, passion, and irrationality- how the human heart is the source of two such extremes.
